"Second Daughter" kept my attention from the beginning. The story line is complicated and intriguing, yet easy to follow and very hard to put down. I judge a book by wether or not it will take me weeks to finish it, or I feel compelled to read until the end. "Second Daughter" was a "do not put down until I've read ever last word" book. My pet peeve are novels that take up space with "filler" descriptions and this book has no "filler" paragraphs. Every word and description is relevant to the story line. The characters are intriguing and psychologically challenged and well developed. I am excited to read the next Tess Thompson book "When an Angel Whispers" which I see is now ready.Product details

Page 1--and I was already hooked and the story only got better. Katie turns to her childhood bodyguard, JW, when she feels her life is threatened. But JW is flawed. Under his watch the Vice-President's wife--Katie's mom--is killed. JW solicits the help of his life-long friend Will and his sister, Nichole. A gone bad romance between Nichole and Will is rekindled while JW attempts to keep his growing feelings for Katie from surfacing. In the meantime, the killer persists and draws Katie into a deadly web. There's plenty of romance and plenty of suspense.
I really like Tess Thompson books (Riversong series) but this one wasn't as good. I knew by the 2nd or 3rd chapter who did it and couldn't relate to the primary characters (JW and Katie). The secondary romance was a good one between Nichole and Will. Katie slept too much and JW was a drunk. The book was OK but I wouldn't read another labeled with Charlene Tess.
Fantastic book from beginning to end. It had the perfect blend of mystery, intrigue, romance and suspense. Read until it was finished. I'm hoping the authors will consider writing a sequel.The main characters in the book have some real staying power!

It's a sweet story...the book needs editing. The word "vein" was used where "vain" should have been. It was said that a "GPA" was used for navigation.
